During this quarantine I was looking up ways to pass the time and fortunately Nintendo just released a never version of Animal Crossing. Starting it’s journey all the way back from 2001 and releasing multiple versions after the initial launch on the GameCube, many became loyal fans of the game. Animal Crossing New Horizon’s 2020 has been one the most anticipated game to be released this year. With new customization options, new neighbors to unfold and a whole island to take over, this is the best game for all ages and the best game to occupy the extra time.
One of the new features of the game that I was most looking forward to was the option to custom your own clothing prints. I dabbled in the feature and created my own Off-White sweater, which I was very proud of.
After searching around online to see what other people were making, I found a whole community of artists that were dedicated to making custom clothing on Animal Crossing. Many creators are using this customization feature on the game and re-creating digital versions of high-end clothing, streetwear, and even anime character clothing for their characters in the game. I’ve got to say, in a pixel world, it looks like the real deal.
Instagram page @NookStreetMarket showcases designs from designers that have recreated runway looks from fashion week and showcase it on their character. Here are some of my favorites:

Creating a customized design from head-to-toe is not an easy task. A designer has the tedious task of filling in the grid, pixel by pixel and lining it up to make sure the design is cohesive.
On popular forum thread website Reddit, there is a whole thread dedicated to showcasing streetwear designs. Some of the creators are dedicated to recreating looks from popular streetwear fashion brands such as A BATHING APE, Supreme and Kith. many are even creating popular logos from popular fashion brands such as Gucci, Channel and Louis Vuitton as well and they look amazing.

There is a feature on the game, once you get to a certain point, where you can actually share your designs with other people that have the game as well. There is a creator code which many designers use. What was surprising to me was that the creators of the custom re-creations are excited to share their designs with the rest of the Animal Crossing gamer community. Unlike the real fashion world, taking ideas and designs are encouraged!
If you don’t have the game I highly recommend it to pass the time and add some more fun to this quarantine. Stay safe gamers!
